4 Things You Must Never Forget About Toilets

Although some issues with toilets may seem minor, they can cause much more serious problems, such as water damage and leaks that could lead to hundreds of gallons wasted water. To avoid paying more in the future, fix any of these problems.

The Toilet Never Stops Running

Normal for your toilet to continue running for about a minute after you flush it. There may be a problem if your toilet is running longer than this. Sometimes, the chain in your toilet tank may be stuck. This can prevent the flapper, which is attached to the chain, from closing properly. Sometimes, the flapper can be opened by wriggling the flush handle.

If that fails, the flapper may be worn and needs to be replaced. You might also have a problem with the fill valve of your toilet. This is the part that refills the bowl and tank to the right levels after each flush.

The toilet tilts or moves

Your toilet should not move. Your toilet should not move if you push or sit on it. This can cause water and waste to leak out underneath it. It is best to call a plumber to check the problem. There are many reasons why a rocking toilet might occur, such as a worn-out wax ring or broken flange bolts.

The Toilet Bowl is Cracked

Leakage can result from cracks in the toilet bowl. You can seal any cracks around the tank or bowl with plumbing epoxy to prevent leaks. Cracks in the tank or bowl can be repaired by a plumber if they are not more than 1/16 inches wide. To prevent your toilet from breaking or leaking water, you should replace cracked parts.

Bad smells won’t leave your bathroom

Most likely, your bathroom will not smell spring-like 100% of the time. If you notice a persistent, unpleasant smell in your bathroom after not using it for some time, this may be a sign that something is wrong with your toilet or other plumbing components. Bad odors could be caused by a damaged flange or worn wax ring seal. These smells could also be a sign of a problem in your home’s sewer or drain line.
